Each year, the staff of the Westminster Economic Development Initiative (WEDI) work hard to host their annual fundraiser, Winterfest, and the staff of Via was pleased to be in attendance. WEDI’s mission is,
“to empower economically-disadvantaged people who live and/or work in Buffalo’s west side community. WEDI’s vision is a vibrant, stable and inviting community. WEDI believes that empowered people can change their community.”
This year’s event was held at the recently renovated Campbell Student Union at Buffalo State College. Local vendors from the West Side Bazaar, a local business incubator sponsored by WEDI that has recently gained national attention, delighted guests’ palates with international foods. In addition to the live and silent auctions, a “walk-through” experience allowed guests to put themselves into the shoes of a refugee, forced to flee their home at a moment’s notice.
The team at Via thanks all those at WEDI who work tirelessly around the year to provide essential supports and services to our community members. We look forward to joining you again for Winterfest 2017!
