NYSED encourages all districts and other American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) recipients to “expeditiously spend and claim…” ARRA funds in a July 15 letter to District Superintendents, School Superintendents and Other ARRA Grant Recipients. The window is beginning to close on their availability to the districts, and the project period for most ARRA funds ends September 30, 2011. The letter includes a link to the complete report of funds not spent organized by county, by district, and by specific grant line, e.g. McKinney Vento Homeless funds or Title II-D Education Technology grants. The letter also includes a link to the project periods for the various grants, as well as a link to guidance for districts on the expenditure of these funds. Ciurczak & Company, Inc. has many years of experience with these specific grants and is currently evaluating them across NY State.
