Its time to prepare! The large Mathematics and Science Partnerships (MSP) program is slated to be released by the NYS Education Department in early January 2018. If your district or eligible charter school (qualified charter schools were eligible in the last RFP) is considering applying, now is the time to begin planning for the application.
A few things to note from the 2014 RFP: this grant has been awarded for either 2 or 3 years and the goal of the program was to improve “academic achievement of students in mathematics and science by supporting and enhancing the content knowledge and instructional practices for teachers of mathematics and science.” Though the new RFP may change slightly, this information can be useful in guiding your preliminary planning for your unique proposal.
Previously, the RFP required an external, third-party expert evaluator. Via Evaluation has been an external, third-party expert evaluator for this grant line since 2004 in school districts across New York, and just finished evaluating four projects across New York State in the most recent round of MSP awards. We could assist your partnership grant team, and write the evaluation section of the proposal. Once funded, we could help with the multiple required annual reports to NYSED.
