Last Thursday, VIA is proud to have hosted (and have all staff attend), a Mental Health First Aid Training. The training was provided by Compeer, an organization that matches individuals living with a mental health diagnosis with volunteer mentors who have faced similar challenges.
Team VIA learned about common symptoms of a variety of mental health diagnoses, as well as ways to support individuals living with a mental health diagnosis—either directly or by pointing them toward resources that are available in the community. One in five people live with a mental health diagnosis, and knowing how best to provide support can be challenging. All attendees agreed that the training was excellent and are eager to use the practical tips and resource guide.
We couldn’t be happier to be supporting this work and have these new tools to make a difference in our community.
Thanks for an informative and helpful training, Compeer!
