VIA Client, Sciencenter, a hands-on science museum in Ithaca, NY, was recently awarded a significant federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), Museums for America grant to increase access to fun, engaging STEM activities. Their application has been cited as an example on the IMLS website. With the grant funds, Sciencenter will expand opportunities for rural youth to engage in STEM through co-creation of relevant, inclusive, and accessible programming. Co-creation of these programs will happen with numerous community partners – including schools, BOCES, co-ops and more – collaborating together, ensuring that both youth and community partners will be better able to engage in STEM opportunities.
VIA is excited to serve as the evaluation partner to Sciencenter for the program. We will be helping them collect information through traditional and non-traditional evaluation methods, with the goal of providing rapid feedback so Sciencenter and partners can make quality improvements in real-time. Some of the methods used will be feedback gallery walks, success case method, surveys, focus groups, and more!
